Sand beds under pavers, play areas, and leveling courses are easy to under-order if depth is measured inconsistently.
Enter length and width in feet and depth in inches to get cubic feet and cubic yards.
Bulk suppliers sell by the yard; bagged sand uses the same volume after you check bag yield.
Steps
Enter bed length in feet.
Enter bed width in feet.
Enter sand depth in inches.
Review cubic feet and yards.
Increase slightly if sand will compact in place.
Math
cuFt = L × W × (depthIn / 12); cuYd = cuFt / 27
Depth inches convert to feet before multiplying by plan area.
Worked cases
16×10×(1/12)≈13.33 cu ft; ≈0.49 cu yd
About 0.5 cubic yards.
20×15×(8/12)=200 cu ft; 200/27≈7.41 cu yd
About 7.4 cubic yards.
