About This Tool

When a colleague says the site is broken, you need a quick second opinion from outside your LAN. Rankify website down checker runs two spaced HTTP probes to your URL from our infrastructure, reports UP when either attempt succeeds with a healthy status, shows average latency, and lists each attempt with status code or error.

This is not a replacement for enterprise synthetic monitoring — it is a fast sanity check when DNS just changed, after deploys, or when local cache masks a regional outage.

Down for everyone or just me

If our checker shows UP but you cannot browse, suspect local DNS cache, corporate proxy, or ISP issues — flush DNS and try traceroute. If we show DOWN and you agree, focus on hosting, DNS, or CDN status pages.

What counts as UP

Success-class HTTP responses mark attempts healthy. Persistent 5xx on both tries yields DOWN. Intermittent 503 may still show UP if the second probe succeeds.

Firewall and geo blocking

Sites blocking datacenter IP ranges may appear DOWN here while residential users reach them. Note the disclaimer on the tool — compare with VPN or mobile data.

After DNS or deploy changes

Run website down checker after TTL updates propagate. Pair with dns-propagation-checker when nameserver migrations are involved.

Versus ping and port tools

HTTP checker validates application layer — a host may ping while nginx is stopped. Port checker confirms TCP open state without HTTP semantics.

Geo-blocking and bot protection may show DOWN while you browse fine.
